Last chance! Win Lunch At Nando’s with SBTV

Win lunch at Nando’s with SBTV! * NOW EXTENDED TILL 31st OCTOBER*

That’s right, Live magazine have teamed up once again with peri-peri specialists Nando’s to bring back the Nando’s Hot Heroes competition, where you can win lunch with your heroes – for being a community hero!

Entry is simple

Aged 12-24? All you have to do is tell us about something positive you’ve done in your community – whether it’s volunteering your time to help the elderly, always putting your litter in the bin or being polite to the bus driver. It can be absolutely anything.

5 winners will be chosen for outstanding entries and 5 winners will be chosen at random from small acts of kindness. So you all have a chance!

Deadline

Not a community hero yet? Then why not go and do something nice. Then tell us about it by leaving a comment on this site or emailing heroes@live-magazine.co.uk with your name and age, and put HOT HEROES in the subject line, by Monday 31st October.

Past winners

Our last two lunches are still on everyone’s lips. Winners sat down with stars of Streetdance 2 3D, Flawless and grime/dubstep crossover aficionado P Money (Butterz Recordings).

Last year’s heroes included volunteers and young carers. Others had set up football clubs and took pack lunches to busy mums. They were all truly great community citizens.

One Hot Hero, Jhamilla Connage, was even nominated for a Spirit of London award (by us!). She’s going to the Royal Albert Hall in October where she’ll get to party with Tinchy Stryder and Diversity.  So who knows where this could lead!

So what are you waiting for?

Win lunch at Nando’s with SBTV! It’ll be your chance to eat chicken at Jamal’s favourite restaurant and chat with the young entrepreneur and team SBTV about their success… or anything you want.

Read about their favourite Nando’s meals:

LIAM TOOTILL

SASKIA COLLINS

PARIS ZARCILLA

So go on – tell us why you are a Nando’s Hot Hero! Leave a comment on this page…. OR…

Email heroes@live-magazine.co.uk with your name and age, telling us what you’ve done, and put HOT HEROES in the subject line, by Monday 31st October.

I took Part in a christian project called “the noise” several years ago in worcester. Even though I’m not religious i took a part in cleaning cars for free, litter picking and generally helping the out community . I’m also considering to hold a charity gig next year in worcester for all people to join in but i want it mainly to be a hip-hop night so i can film it all and have the artists pay me to video them do a live performances, then for me to send it to them.but all the money given to me from the artist wil go towards the charity and which will give the artists some healthy promotion or at leats just a live video to keep.

Hey. Im writing with regards to the ‘Hot Heroes’ competition when i was reading The Live Mag online which is my favourite.

I think i should win this competition because i have recently done a lot of charity fundraising for people that are less advantaged than me. I have single handedly organised a football tournament at my school and you can see the details to this in the print screen of my school newsletter. I have also done two ten mile walks. One this year in which i raised £100 plus the other people that walked with me did raise more money. The money from this went towards a charity that i have chosen. The second walk was done 2 years ago and i roughly raised the same amount of money but for a different charity.

Attached are the photos from the school newsletter as evidence.

All i want is some Piri Piri chicken, eat it with Jamal Edwards :O and read Live Magazine (:

So myself and my business partner are proclaimed entrepreneurs – we own a magazine in the Corby Area with a readership of around 10,000 people.

We first hit the headlines around a year ago, when the American business website, ‘JuniorBiz’ named us the ‘World’s Youngest Publishers.’ Since then the coverage has expanded to such places as BBC Radio 2, and BBC Breakfast news. Although that’s not the best bit.

We were able to leverage the coverage which we received, to help out the community – big time.

Our publication, ‘Corby Magazine’ covers the Corby area, which has a population of around 60,000, so naturally has a large amount of charities, and organisations which may not have been able to get their voice heard.

Although the magazine is profit making, we give space ever issue to local charities and organisations to get their voice heard, throughout the town, and make real change.

I’d be happy to provide any additional information.

  • Phoebegould

I give two days a week to helping at a centre called the Rugby Portobello Trust or refugee children with nowhere else to go. Some of the younger children have learning difficulties such as ADHD so I help them with their homework. Before doing this, I didn’t realise how vital patience actually is. But giving these children your full attention and patience means that they trust you, and a child who believes in no one, let alone themselves, having faith in you, really is something incredible.

  • Lewisbolland

    Hi,
I am in a band called KTS. we play shows every week and some a charity shows. Last august we played a show at our local pub as Tadey, where we live has rare music events. So us and our our friends band got in touch with oxfam and has a live charity night. Due to it being rare in tadley that a live music event actually takes place. we managed to raise over £400 for Oxfam. I really feel that is something we have done for the community as alot of us pulled together and raised money and had a good music night in Tadley

  • Lauranhart

I’m Lauran and I’m 15! :) When I was in Edinburgh visting some of my family, I witnessed somebody be knocked over by a car sending him flying. But instead of walking on and staring at the poor man like everyone else around was, I instantly ran over to the man, to make sure he was okay, and if he needed anything eg. an ambulance and to help sort the accident out. I gave him my details in case he ever needed anything, which was the case. I needed to make a statement and did, recounting everything that had happened. If it wasn’t for my St John Ambulance Training and me being a cadet for 4 years, I would have been clueless in a situation like that and probably would of been one of those people walking by.

    Wicked opportunity guys!

I also took my views of the prison system and punishment laws and campaigned at the united nations human rights council, to try and make a change in our country.

Jamal Edwards is my biggest inspiration, and he was the reason i started my own media channel. I would love to have a meal with him and the SBTV team, and discuss ideas, and get some tips on how to improve my own media channel. I also attended the SBTV DB8 which was a life changing experience for me. Also i am making a short film on how the youth of today aren’t as bad as people think, and that we can make a change in this world. Rap and grime music means so much to me, so i would love to meet someone who is so respected in the UK urban scene.

  • Adeife

    My name is Adeife Bamgbose.

I’m a 21 year old student in her final year at University of Westminster. Who works voluntary as a human resoucre manager at a student run consultant based at my university.

In the past 3 years i have dedicated my time to educating youth about business and about really looking at their future. I regularly go back to my school and talk to Yr 9′s about furthering their education and that if they work hard they will get all they want to achieve and they should do this for themselves and not anyone else. I also work with young Enterprise and go to schools and teach primary and secondary school children about business and economic. My reward in doing this is seeing them actually ask me questions and see that they understand what i have said. In my recent school visit i thought them about trading and exports and marketing and showing them that their clothing comes form all around the world and i enjoyed seeing them engage in the work given and then ask for more once the day was over.

I am also a youth leader at my church my duties involve organising Pall your meeting form the logistics, to the speakers and over seeing everything that goes on.

I believe in giving back to the next generation and empowering them to be entrepreneurial and to want to know more and strive to be better.

Finally i also raise money for charity.. My brother passed away to cancer at the age of 16 in May 2010 and he loved to give back. Since then i have been fundraising money for a charity called CCLASP and i have raised money for Clic Sargent who gave my family the opportunity to go away on holiday. I recently ran an event which was in aid of leukaemia and lymphoma research. Once i finish university i will be setting up a Charity in aid of my brother and uncle who passed away to cancer to help support families that have gone through the same thing. I know many other charities are doing the same but i believe i need to give back.

Thank you for allowing me to apply for this,

    Thanks and God Bless

  • Zahra Hussain

    Why I am a Hot Heroine :)

I’ve always been a very community involved, motivated person, but I never truly began to act upon my desire to be selfless and solely benefit others until I was recently selected to be a Young Leader for READ International this year. I felt happy that I was finally doing something purely out of the goodness of my heart, and as a lover of Literature, being involved in this charity and spreading the joy and power that knowledge gives to those less fortunate than myself would be a blessing in itself. Now embedded in this role, it is my duty to promote community engagement and ensure people are aware of the charity’s aims, and to stimulate support from my fellow school members and other schools, by performing assemblies that inform them of what we can do to directly help those children in schools in Africa. As a Young Leader, through my motivation of these individuals and businesses, this year, we hope to raise £2000 and collect 5000 books, predominantly revision guides and textbooks to help those students in Africa who currently only have 1 book to share among 9 students. I hope by spurring this desire to help our counterparts in Africa within my community on a local scale, will allow my fellow youth to recognise the importance and value of education and how every other child deserves access to it as well.
Thank you, and I hope I can considered a ‘Hot Heroine’ and meet many inspirational figures at Nando’s, particularly Jamal Edwards who can help me to have the confidence to believe and empower others, just as he has done.

  • Jesse Michealangelo

Everyone is going to tell you the best of best however let me show you the best of best.

I am Jesse Michealangelo Anim and I certainly a Hot Hero because I have pretty much for my community and country I was part of United Kingdom Youth Parliament and I was MYP of my Borough Barking & Dagenham last year and this has led to great success in my community because people never believed that I was capable of making any changes for the Youths in my borough and in the country. I attended many meeting with Head’s and Lords of different organisations and also met minister of Children’s care , London Travel Unit , Metropolitan Police, Assistant Head of Education . All these people were invited to different meetings so that My Deputy and me could lay down some problems and the major one we had was Safety, Underage Sex/Pregnancy and Drinking so we set up a campaign mainly against under age drinking and made a video for it. This video got distributed to 80% of the young people
in my borough through their blackberry phones or any phone that could access the web this video opened young peoples eyes to see that under age drinking is another way to early death or injuries.

I met up with different MYP’s from London discussing what dilemma’s they have in their area’s so we could bring in some brilliant ideas to help out. We worked close with Hackney , Redbridge, Greenwhich , Ealing, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets. I did speeches infront of over 200 adults and young people about what I do for my borough and won a speaking out award and I also won an award for being the most successfull MYP there was. My Physical look is very different people judge me as a crazy young wild black boy but I have to intelligence of Richard Branson. I stepped of this role because of my 6thform work and I needed to concentrate on Education and now I am a recording Artist with my group called TKP and we do Rap. Meeting some one like Jamal Edwards would be a dream come true because he made his dream come true and now he’s living in success and thats what I want.

I have Directed to short films for a Media class and I have also been camera man for them beside that I do Photography and I am a very jolly young black person. I love people and I am a people’s person thats why I am always around people and I love Business Studies as well I currently Import Garments and trainers for my customers for a good price from America all Legit and certified.

I have visited so many countries especially Europe so I have a broad knowledge about how other things work in different countries and 1 thing people Love about me is my hairstyle I decided to go for this hairstyle when I saw the film House Party I got so fascinated and just got my hair into a Hightop As well. I will love to meet Jamal and just ask him general questions and maybe get hooked up with something or just any contact he got for me to lead on to the path of success.

Any others on the team I would admire to meet them as well because they all play an important role.

There is so much more I can say about myself and I have done more than this for my community however this a quick summery because I do not want to over load you with reading
but I surely know that I have been a hero for my community and for the country.
I will tell you so much more about me when you get to meet me .

Thank you very much for your time
