The first somewhereto_ space has officially opened in Brighton!
‘Fishboy’ was able to secure this incredible space close to the famous Brighton Pier through somewhereto_. For those of you who don’t know, somewhereto_ is a nationwide project funded by Legacy Trust UK to help 16-25 year olds find the space they need to do the things they love in sports, culture, the arts and more.
In this case the passion was art. ‘Fishboy’ approached somewhereto_ looking for a space he could display his art in the lead up to Christmas, when the streets will be full of Christmas shoppers to see his great work. With the help of the Brighton & Hove City Council, the somewhereto_ team unlocked a beach hut to display his art in for free. With the help of 3 of his friends who are also artists he has encouraged young artists in the area to make use of the space in order to exhibit their work.
The exhibition called ‘pop-up Brighton’ will run till the 23rd December and has been up since the 2nd December. So if you happen to be in Brighton before the 23rd make sure you check it out; it’s positioned to the left of the pier on the lower promenade.
“I’m very pleased we’ve been able to help Fishboy. Who knows? We may be nurturing the next Damian Hirst or Banksy,” said Geoffrey Bowden who is Brighton’s Cabinet Council for culture.
Somwhereto_ was able to give him this opportunity entirely for free.
Fishboy would not have been able to afford such a space or anything similar or as central in the run up to Christmas. The somewhereto_ team can do the same for you, whatever your passion.
