There was a great performance and interview on 16th January with the Welsh band ‘Cutting the Beef’ on Rhondda Radio. It was part of the ‘That’s not music, that’s just noise’ programme.
This is the first group of young people who have taken the amazing opportunity not only to get some airtime on the allocated slot, but also to have a space to perform and practice in the great studio space (provided by UK project somewhereto_). The space itself is a weekly two-hour slot on the radio station, with a different band or artist getting involved every week.

I spoke to Cutting the Beef’s Joss Jaye on the phone briefly, and I could immediately tell how impressed he was with what somewhereto_ had hooked up for him: “An absolutely brilliant effort and opportunity” is how he described the project. He continued with “Coming from a small town there isn’t really much as a band that we can do to get exposure, somewhereto_ completely changed that”. Cutting the Beef are from Treherbert in Wales, where it would be harder to break into the music industry compared to a bigger city like Cardiff.
Hopefully somewhereto_ will be able to continue helping them on their journey, helping them either build a relationship with the radio station, or securing them more spaces where they can perform and record.
If your band would be interested in having the chance of performing live on radio and also be able to practice in the fully equipped studios, then somewhereto_ can help you!
