Yes, it’s that time of year again where naturally as human beings we want to be out with the old and in with the new. No that doesn’t just mean throwing away that dress that no longer fits you because you’ve had to many stuffing balls (Who cares? Everyone’s seen you in it anyway!), it also applies to music.
2011 has been an amazing year for our eardrums in the form of Jessie J, Wretch 32, Example, that girl who sang that song? Her album was quite good…ermmm, oh yeah, Adele- who gave us more than music, but also tears filling up our charts. But, let us get down to business and get down to the new kids in town set to take over the charts for 2012.
Lana Del Ray

My first choice is New York born songstress whose home made videos and very very moody voice is stealing the hearts of many around the world, Lana Del Rey.. Described as a ‘gangsta Nancy Sinata’ (gwan girl!!!), the 25 year old (we also share the same birthday…21st June if you were thinking of getting me a present) over the past 12 months has captured an audience with her popular dark Hollywood Americano tunes, Video Games, Blue Jeans and more.
Whats next?
Well with the success of her first single Video Games, Lana is releases her single Born To Die and album with the same name as the single, in January which to say the least is highly anticipated! I hope that answered your question but now on to the real question at hand…are her lips real?
Vince Kidd

Moving onto one of my personal favourite artist findings of the year, the ever so soulfully soulful singer-songwriter Vince Kidd. Currently signed to Sony ATV, the Holloway hills singer has stolen my heart and ran with it to a very dark place where music is truthful and radiates emotion. Currently with his acoustic session of song Smother Me capturing people’s attention on youtube everyday, it doesn’t look like this rudeboy is going to be a One To Watch for much longer, more like One You’ve Been Watching And Waiting For.
Whats next?
He’s recently recorded the video for his first single Sick Love so look out for that!
14th

It’s not often you describe a twosome as an under-water space party but then again its not often you get music like this is it? The duo I’m talking about is futuristic garage band 14th. First catching my eye early on in 2011 the pair has gone on to release their EP, Hide Yourself it rave reviews including those from The Guardian, RWD and of course Live! Now with many eyes on them asking what are they going to come out with next.
What’s next?
New single ‘Take Me There’ is out in February.
L Marshall

Many of you may know my next One To Watch, L Marshall, from a little song called Trakor from a little artist called Wretch 32. (Wow, could that sentence be more of an understatement!). Yes the quirky vocals from the chorus of Trakor was in fact L Marshall who wrote Loick Essien’s How We Roll and featured on Maxsta’s most recent track Spit Fire but don’t think this guy is staying in the shadow. With his mixtape The Wait, L Marshall is stepping out with a bang ready to take on the chart, I’m ready….are you?
Whats next?
Catch him at the Jazz Cafe on February 2nd!
Cleo Sol

My final but by no means least of the new talent that’s coming out of 2012 right now, a London las we’re very familiar with over here at Live Magazine, Cleo Sol. W’vee been supporting and loving Cleo Sol’s music for a while now and just a few weeks ago the extremely talented singer-songwriter singed her record deal with Island Records. The industry jumped for joy! With her fun, bright, light-hearted personality perfectly matching her smooth and melodically perfect vocals which is perfectly demonstrated in her first single ‘High’, Cleo is set to spread some Sol all over 2012!
Whats next?
An album due from release near the end of 2012 Im told.
