Christine confronts her fears with folk music, and gives Folkroom Records latest EP a listen..
I can’t stand Folk music! I mean…seriously! When I hear the words ‘folk music’ I think of boring, old people sitting on a doorstep playing a tiny guitar with a cat laying on the step beside them. I am more of an Urban Pop fan. Up-tempo beats with a heavy bass line – that is my thing. I prefer artists like Chris Brown and Rihanna (awkward combination, right?). I enjoy songs that make me dance and sing along, not cry and make me depressed!
However Andrew Butler’s EP is different from other folk music (well… not entirely or else it wouldn’t be folk music). The February 14th EP has songs, which truly express the joys of love, and it’s many trecherous obstacles such as ‘Love Is A Record’ and ‘Happy Ever After.’
Having worked with producer Ben Walker and accompanying musicians Jessica Moncrieff and Heather Cluney, Andrew was able to put together this amazing Folk filled EP. Andrew captivated me with his lyrics of happiness and love. Beautiful!
So there we have it, my review on folk music as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Therefore I recommend you listen to this EP here. Come on folks!
