Well, they say third time’s a charm … and the preview of Mary Katrantzou’s next collection for Topshop has already got me under its spell!
This capsule range is her biggest yet for the brand and will include everything from jersey leggings to silk T-shirt dresses. The pieces may be mere snippets of the usual Katrantzou price-tag (the collection ranges from £40-£350) but they still have the designer’s signature bold prints stamped skilfully over them! The vibrant florals and opulent designs of her latest lines have been fused to produce the striking print collages that make each Katrantzou item a work of art.
On working with Topshop, the designer said, “they’ve been so supportive of my work from the very beginning and this range will be the most ambitious one we’ve done and the most fun.”
Whilst £350 is still slightly out of my price range (apparently a beautiful dress is no substitute for food), Katranzou explains that she did not want to compromise on quality. “My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that is as close to the aesthetic of my mainline as possible, with great control over the quality of design and production”. It appears she has succeeded; the bowl dress, which is already top of my wishlist, looks like it has come straight from the Autumn/ Winter 2011 collection.
The range is due in store on 17th February but I may be camping outside the night before!
