The BFI Future Film Festival returns for it’s 5th year on 18-19th February. Do you have a passion for film or filmmaking?

The BFI Southbank will be the destination for all aspiring filmmakers to see the hottest new films from UK talent and to get the chance to learn essential skills from industry experts. There will be workshops, masterclasses and Q&A’s on everything from screenwriting, producing, funding, exhibition and distribution, storyboard art, casting for film, VFX, blogging, music videos and a live pitching session.

Directors Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill), Tom Kingsley and Will Sharpe (Black Pond), film critics from Little White Lies Magazine, VFX expert Ed Hall (Casino Royale, Clash of The Titans, John Carter) will be in attendance along with representatives from IDEASTAP, BFI Film Fund, The Script Factory, FILM CLUB, SAE Institute and BAFTA.

The Winning Pitch Competition: There will also be a documentary pitching competition and masterclass hosted by the Doc Next Network with David Westhead, actor (The Iron Lady) and producer (Mandela’s Children). In the run up to this event, Future Film are also asking you to come up with a 140 character Winning Pitch for a documentary you would like to make, either Twitter @BFI with the hashtag #FFPitch or email futurefilminstitute@bfi.org.uk. Six Finalists will pitch their idea to an industry panel who’ll select one winner for an expenses paid trip to a filmmaking workshop with one of Future Film’s partners in Holland, Spain, Turkey or Poland.
