With the new ice rink in Brixton recently opened, and the growing popularity in roller skating, Live’s Courtney looks at the best places to get your skates on!
Not many Boroughs in London have ice rinks. Brixton however, now has a new temporary ice rink, the ice rink in Streatham was moved next door to the Brixton’s recreation centre. The temporary rink opened on Monday the 19th December, with reasonable prices, from £4 including skate hire, and £18 for two children and an adult. The temporary rink will be open for the next two and a half years, while a brand new rink is built in Streatham.
For all you avid skaters, at the Brixton rink, you can not only hire skates but have a lesson in skating. Before you know it you will be perfecting the way you skate!
Roller-skating has also become hugely popular. Many youths and adults roller-skate, both for exercise and for fun. Special skating arenas and parks have been built enabling roller-skating. Places like Deptford, and Brockwell Park are great places to learn.
Roller-skating is very fun and energetic, people do it on the streets or in parks, as its enjoyable. It can also be seen as a form of transport as it gets you from place to place quick and easy on wheels. Roller-skating is also exercise in which many people who don’t usually exercise will see it as a fun way of exercising.
Both roller-skating and ice-skating are great ways to exercise and fun days out you can have with your friends!
