Best of The Best

Top Five Sporting Venues In London

Tooting Bec Athletics Track
Tooting Bec Athletics Track is in Tooting near the common, loads of people go there to run and train everyday. It is a 400m long track which is circular and has eight lanes. It is used a lot for sports days for schools and athletic tournaments. It is close to the common where there are lots of football pitches and nearby is Tooting Lido, which is a 90m pool and is the biggest freshwater open air swimming pool in London.

Paddington Recreation Ground
Paddington Rec has a choice of all sports to engage in, from rounders to an outdoor gym, and is located near Warwick Avenue and Maida Vale tube stations. The park has a bandstand where sometimes live music is played. The only bad thing about the park is that it is set up mainly for use by families and couples so young generations might not like it as much.

Stockwell Skatepark
Stockwell skate park is one of the best in london, not far away from LIVE Magazine's headquarters, the skatepark is big and is used as somewhere to socialise as well as ride on the ramps. In 2005 the park was resurfaced because is was getting old and crusty. Two years later is had started to crack again, so users of the park campaigned for it to be resurfaced a second time, and they made sure other parts of the park that weren't in the skate park were added. The skatepark is used for skatingg, scootering, rollerblading and BMX bike riding.

Westway Sports Centre
The centre has three main sport departments: Football, Tennis and Climbing. All of these have good facilities for teenagers, and the centre also has a lot of other sports to particpate in. Westway has one of the largest indoor climbing centres in the UK and one of only 19 high performance tennis centres. It is also the only public one in London, with eight indoor courts and four outdoor clay courts.

Tooting Lido
Tooting lido is the best place to swim in south London. It is the second biggest outdoor freshwater pool in Europe. There is a paddling pool so that there aren't any little kids interrupting the swimming of anybody in the main pool. The lido is not warm, but on a hot day it is a great feeling to splash into the water to cool yourself down. There are lifeguards who are very safe and laid-back and multicoloured changing rooms for anyone wanting to use them.
