X Tone Thermoburn
This is a cheap, low quality, cheap fat burner. Honestly, what do you expect from Home Bargains? If you’re buying fat burners from one of the cheapest supermarkets in the UK, then you’re not going to be getting high quality supplements – you’re going to be getting X Tone Thermoburn. The problems with X Tone Thermoburn are obvious when you look at the formula – Guarana instead of pure caffeine, low doses, no chili extract, no appetite suppressant. Don’t waste money trying to cut corners. If you want real results, use a professional-quality fat burner.
Our X Tone Thermoburn Review
Not many of you will have heard of X Tone Thermoburn. It is only sold in the UK, and only in one shop – Home Bargains. Unless you spend time browsing the shelves of your local Home Bargains, you are highly unlikely to ever see X Tone Thermoburn. It appears to actually be the budget supermarket’s own fat burner; made and distributed by them.
So what does this supplement claim to do exactly?
Is X Tone Thermoburn any good?
X Tone Thermoburn doesn’t seem to be listed on the supermarket’s website. As such, we have limited information on the product.
The only information we get on the bottle is that X Tone Thermoburn comes in “high strength capsules”.
So we’re not being promised the world here.
But this product is still sold as a fat burner, so we have to evaluate it based on the assumption that it helps with fat loss.
It is clearly marketed as a sports supplement (judging by the packaging). So it’s safe to judge it as one, even if we aren’t given any specific promises.
Does X Tone Thermoburn a good UK fat burner?
Does it promote fat loss, or reduce appetite, or supercharge your workouts?
Is it safe?

X Tone Thermoburn Ingredients
Here is a list of the X Tone Thermoburn ingredients:
- Guarana (22% extract) – 150mg
- Caffeine – 33mg
- Magnesium – 76mg
- Ginger root – 50mg
- Tyrosine – 50mg
- L-Carnitine L-Tartrate – 33.5mg
- Green tea extract – 100mg
- Zinc – 10mg
- Vitamin B6 – 10mg
- Chromium – 75mcg
Not the most exciting formula in the world, is it?
Here we see the same boring, unproven, weak ingredients that we see in every fat loss supplement on the market today.
There are some good fat burners in here of course. Green tea, caffeine, chromium – these substances can all enhance fat loss in different ways.
But the doses are low in X Tone Thermoburn. The best fat burners in the UK right now all use these same ingredient but at far higher doses than we get here.
We also aren’t big fans of fat burners which contain lots of material that doesn’t help you lose weight.
Guarana is only useful for its caffeine. So 78% of the Guarana in X Tone Thermoburn is just useless plant material.
Ginger root extract isn’t going to help you lose fat any faster either.
All-in-all, this is a poor fat burner. You can definitely do a lot better than X Tone Thermoburn. It might be cheap, but you get what you pay for in this life! There are significantly better products on sale in the UK right now, that’s for sure.
Let’s go through these points in a little more detail.
- Guarana instead of just caffeine
- Contains ineffective ingredients
- Doses far too low
There are lots of problems with this fat burner. On the whole, we are seriously unimpressed by it. Even at such a low price, we expected more.
Home Bargains are not bodybuilding experts, so we weren’t expecting a top-tier fat burner. They run low-budget supermarkets, and we expected a low-budget product.
But we still think they could have done a lot more than this and still kept prices down.
They could have actually saved a lot of money and made X Tone Thermoburn better at the same time!
Take the Guarana for example.
There is absolutely no benefit to using Guarana over straight caffeine.
Caffeine is caffeine. It doesn’t matter where it comes from. The caffeine in guarana is the same as the caffeine in coffee beans – it’s the same molecule. So when we’re consuming supplements, and not eating the fruit, we just want straight, pure caffeine.
Instead of upping the dose of caffeine – which is a paltry 33mg – X Tone Thermoburn uses a combination of pure caffeine and Guarana, which is 22% caffeine.
Because 78% of the Guarana is just useless plant material, we have no need for it.
In total, we get 66mg of caffeine from X Tone Thermoburn; a pathetic dose for a fat burner.
Instead of wasting money on the Guarana to jazz up the label, the manufacturer could have saved money and given us more pure caffeine.
We think about 150-200mg of caffeine per day is great for keeping you energized and fuelling your workouts. This must be broken up into smaller doses of course, but 200mg per day is great for fat loss.
We doubt you’re going to get anything from 66mg per day – it’s less than a single espresso!
Another ingredient the manufacturer has skimped on is Green Tea. X Tone Thermoburn contains just 100mg of green tea extract.
Green tea can be an extremely powerful fat burner when used correctly.
It contains a catechin called EGCG which has been repeatedly shown in clinical trials to promote fat loss. Multiple clinical studies have found that EGCG administration leads to greater fat loss independently of diet and exercise.
We aren’t told exactly what the extract in X Tone Thermoburn contains. We don’t know what the manufacturer has “extracted” and concentrated here – it could be that they extracted mostly cellulose, or water, or other materials that don’t burn fat!
One thing we don’t know is whether this green tea extract contains any EGCG. High-EGCG gren tea extracts are expensive, so when manufacturers use them, they tend to talk about it.
If there isn’t lots of EGCG in this green tea extract, then 100mg is nowhere near enough.
Top quality fat burners in the UK today use 300mg and more as standard. Some contain 500mg, and a couple even contain a whopping 1,000mg of green tea powder.
The 100mg of who-knows-what extract we get from X Tone Thermoburn just isn’t good enough.
We have no idea why this product has been called “thermoburn” – there is nothing hot about it.
We’re getting sick of fat burners just using the “thermo” buzzword without actually providing anything to trigger thermogenesis.
Usually, a fat burner will contain something like cayenne chili extract. Consuming chili extracts increases your internal body temperature. This in turn triggers a heat response; you sweat, your blood vessels dilate, and so on. This all costs a lot of calories.
So by consuming things like chili extracts, you increase your caloric expenditure and put yourself into a relatively deeper caloric deficit.
But X Tone Thermoburn doesn’t contain any chili extract at all!
It doesn’t even contain enough caffeine to really be considered a thermogenic – caffeine starts you sweating at doses of about 120mg.
No Appetite Suppressant?
Perhaps the biggest problem with X Tone Thermoburn is the lack of an appetite suppressant.
We think every fat burner really needs something to help with your appetite.
Dieting is often the hardest part of a cut.
Turning up to training and getting through your sets is a doddle compared to resisting the McDonald’s drive-thru on your way home. Morning cardio is super easy next to turning down the donuts being passed around the office at 3pm.
For us too, diet discipline is usually the thing that trips us up during a cut.
So when we use a fat burner, we want something that will help us stay on track with our diets – something to make us feel fuller for longer, to reduce food cravings, and so on. For example, Instant Knockout contains glucomannan, which bulks out your stomach with a natural paste.
X Tone Thermoburn doesn’t provide anything to help reduce food cravings.
Caffeine does suppress appetite a little, but it isn’t a heavy duty appetite suppressant.
We really need an appetite suppressant I our fat burners, and we think you probably do too. Most top quality UK fat burners provide something to help with appetite. X Tone Thermoburn does not. It is a budget supplement, and it shows.
Side Effects – Is X Tone Thermoburn Safe?
We don’t think anybody has anything to really worry about from X Tone Thermoburn.
The main side effect risk with fat burners is usually the caffeine content, and as discussed already, X Tone Thermoburn doesn’t contain much.
Each serving of this fat burner provides just 66mg of caffeine.
That is roughly the equivalent of 1 espresso.
If that much caffeine has a significant physiological effect on you, then you shouldn’t be supplementing with caffeine at all.
There are plenty of caffeine-free fat burners out there – like Performance Lab SPORT Fat Burner – so opt for that instead.
But for most of you, an extra 66mg of caffeine per day is not going to have a major impact (unless you’re consuming a ridiculous amount of caffeine already).
Please calculate your existing caffeine intake carefully before adding in any more from other supplements. Coffee, tea, pre-workouts – it all adds up. You can cumulatively consume enormous amounts of caffeine without realising. Be smart and don’t accidentally overdose; caffeine overdose ca be life threatening.
On the whole though, we think X Tone Thermoburn looks like a safe fat burner.
Its ingredients have all been thoroughly tested in clinical trials. They’ve all been deemed generally safe for regular human consumption.
They are all widely used in fat burners today.
Please remember the following facts while reading our supplement reviews:
- We are not doctors
- This is not medical advice
You must do your own research carefully and consult with a proper, qualified doctor before using any fat burners. If you experience any side effects whatsoever, stop using X Tone Thermoburn and seek medical attention immediately.
X Tone Thermoburn Review Conclusion – Is It Any Good?
We don’t think X Tone Thermoburn is a very good fat burner at all.
It doesn’t matter how you look at it, this supplement doesn’t meet our expectations.
It is Home Bargain’s own fat burner, so we didn’t expect too much.
But we expected more than this.
Even for the price, X Tone Thermoburn is disappointing. The manufacturer could have cut right back on all the useless crap in here and just dosed the caffeine and green tea properly.
They mention caffeine and green tea on the bottle, so they know they can help you with fat loss!
So why all the ginger root, guarana, and so on?
If you want help losing fat faster during your next cut, invest in a professional-quality fat burner. Opting for cheap stacks might save you a few pounds in the short-term, but you just end up wasting your money in the long-run.
