Final Verdict

Performance Lab products are always made along minimalist lines; no waste, no fluff, and with a real focus on ingredient quality. Performance Lab T-Booster is no different. This is a really refined, streamlined testosterone booster. It contains just four ingredients. Each one is of the highest possible quality – as usual, Performance Lab went the extra mile to provide potent, scientifically-proven, pure extracts here.

The D-Aspartic Acid Calcium Chelate will quickly boost your own natural testosterone production. At the same time, the luteolin acts as a natural aromatase inhibitor, helping to keep more of this new testosterone as testosterone and not letting it convert to estrogen. We also have a nice dose of Mucuna Puriens, which promotes natural testosterone production via different pathways to D-AACC. All of this is wrapped up with Ashwagandha, which reduces stress hormone levels, improves sleep, reduces inflammation, and promotes FSH release.

All in all, this is a really nice testosterone booster. It is simple yet highly effective. We think this would be a great option for anyone looking for a good value, effective, and safe testosterone booster to help with their training and overall well-being.

Our Performance Lab T-Booster Review

Performance Lab is a relatively new supplement brand. However, it has already become one of the most talked-about brands in the marketplace. The Performance Lab range is extensive; it includes every product you might associate with overall health and wellness, as well as plenty of specific performance enhancers. There’s a nootropic, a post-workout stack, a sleep aid, a vision enhancer, a multi-vitamin, a prebiotic – you name it, these guys have it covered.

So what does Performance Lab T-Booster do?

Does it really work?

Performance Lab T-Booster box image

The box itself gives us a rough idea of what T-Booster actually does:

What does Performance Lab T-Booster do?

The improvements in strength, athletic performance, and virility mentioned here will of course come as a result of improved hormonal balance. Some testosterone boosters treat these symptoms rather than the root cause (low testosterone). Hopefully T-Booster goes to the heart of the issue!

Unlike many manufacturers out there, Performance Lab is happy to give us plenty of details about what effects users can actually expect. They also explain the mechanisms behind those effects in great detail on the website.

In particular, the website stresses the following mechanisms through which T-Booster promotes free serum testosterone:

  • Increased Luteinizing Hormone (LH) production
  • Increased Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) production
  • Reduced cortisol levels
  • Reduced aromatase activity
  • More gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)  release

It’s really great to see a manufacturer so willing to be specific about what their product actually does. Most testosterone boosters – even the good ones – tend to stick to vague claims and sketchy science to avoid over-promising. As usual, Performance Lab is different.

If the product can actually do all of these things, then users of Performance Lab T-Booster will no doubt experience:

  • Increased strength
  • Rapid increase in muscle mass
  • Reduced body fat
  • Faster recovery post-exercise
  • Heightened libido
  • More energy
  • Greater confidence

This would make it a genuinely superb testosterone booster.

The question is though, are any of these claims true?

Does Performance Lab T-Booster really work as advertised?

How does ti compare to our top rated products?

Performance Lab T-Booster Formula

Let’s take a look at the ingredients list and see whether there’s any substance to Performance Lab’s claims. Here’s a shot of the label:

T-Booster formula

That is a really nice formula.

Simple, focused, and refined. This is exactly what we expected from these guys; a potent, high quality formula with no waste and no unnecessary fluff.

There’s just four ingredients, but each one has proven testosterone-boosting, performance-enhancing properties.

Every base has been covered here; there’s an aromatase inhibitor, an LH booster, an FSH booster, and a cortisol-control agent. That T-Booster manages to cover all of these angles with just four ingredients is really amazing. It is a testament to Performance Lab’s focus on proven, potent ingredients and their complete disregard for over-hyped, unproven substances.

We also notice that only pure, top quality extracts have been used here. Cheap, standard forms of these ingredients have been dropped in favor of highly bio-available, potent extracts and analogues.

We always prefer manufacturers who focus exclusively on the best, most robustly proven ingredients. We’re not interested in pseudo-science or hype. We don’t want to pay for useless plant extracts and dead weight.

We just want safe, natural substances which increase free serum testosterone. That’s exactly what we get here.

All in all, this is a really impressive formula. We’ll now take you through some of the main selling points in greater detail, before moving on to the areas where this product could be improved.

Main Strength – All Bases Covered!

Without a doubt the major selling point of this product is that it manages to cover several different aspects of natural testosterone boosting with just four ingredients.

In fact, it covers every angle – testosterone production, estrogen conversion, cortisol balance; the works!

The main ingredient is obviously D-Aspartic Acid Calcium Chelate.

D-Aspartic Acid (D-AA) is probably the most reliable and ultimately effective natural testosterone booster in use today. It works by stimulating the production of testosterone in the testes. More accurately, it triggers the release of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in the pituitary gland, which then tells the Leydig cells in the testes to start pumping out more testosterone.

Supplementation with D-AA has been shown in heaps of clinical trials to quickly raise testosterone levels. People are often surprised at how effective D-AA supplementation can be. In this trial, for example, researchers found that participants aged between ~25 and ~50 given 2.66g of D-AA per day experienced enormous rises in both free and total LH and testosterone levels.

“The only variation was observed in the LH and testosterone concentrations that were found to be increased between 1.3 – 1.6 fold compared to their basal levels in the Daspartate group. However, the increased levels of LH and testosterone observed in this study were in agreement with the previously reported results demonstrating that D-aspartate has the capacity to increase LH and testosterone blood levels.”

That’s a 60% increase in free serum testosterone in some subjects!

Performance Lab T-Booster contains 1,000mg of D-Aspartic Acid Calcium Chelate. This is a significanty more bio-available form of D-AA (it’s also much more expensive, which is why you wont find it in most testosterone boosters).

We think 1,000mg of D-AACC is going to deliver similar results to about 3g of regular D-AA. There is therefore more than enough D-AA in Performance Lab T-Booster for you to get good results.

D-AA Performance Lab T-Booster ingredients

We then have Mucuna Pruriens backing up the D-AA.

Mucuna Pruriens also stimulates your own natural testosterone production system. It just does so via a slightly different pathway to D-AA.

Mucuna Pruriens contains a compound called L-DOPA. It is this substance which is thought to give rise to Mucuna Pruriens’ testosterone boosting properties.

L-DOPA is primarily thought to work by stimulating the release of GnRH, or gonadotropin-releasing hormone. This in turn stimulates the release of LH from the pituitary gland (like D-AA), in turn triggering the release of testosterone from the testes.

Most studies looking at Mucuna Pruriens as a supplement have focused on infertile men, or those simply struggling with fertility-related issues (low sperm motility, for example). The results of these studies are really interesting. In one trial, researchers found that 5g of Mucuna Pruriens powder per day for 3 months significantly increased both LH and testosterone levels. It is worth quoting the paper in full:

“Serum T and LH levels, as well as seminal plasma and blood levels of dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline were also decreased in all groups of infertile men. This was accompanied by significantly increased serum FSH and PRL levels in oligozoospermic subjects. Treatment with M. pruriens significantly improved T, LH, dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline levels in infertile men and reduced levels of FSH and PRL. Sperm count and motility were significantly recovered in infertile men after treatment.” (Published 2009 in Fertility and Sterility).

Interestingly, the administration of Mucuna Pruriens brought up LH and serum testosterone to levels comparable to the healthy control group!

Stacking D-AA with Mucuna Pruriens gives you the best possible fighting chance at kicking your testes into gear and pumping out testosterone again.

Performance Lab T-Booster contains 150mg per serving. While this is pretty standard for testosterone boosters, it’s worth noting that the Mucuna Pruriens used by Performance Lab is 15% L-DOPA. This is significantly better than the standard 4% extracts common in supplements today.

Mucuna Pruriens effectiveness

With testosterone production more than taken care of, Performance Lab T-Booster gets to work ensuring that your free serum testosterone levels do not rapidly deplete through estrogen conversion.

It does this by providing a very healthy dose of Luteolin.

Luteolin is a botanical antioxidant found in large quantities in oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits.

Luteolin is also a natural aromatase inhibitor (bodybuilding fans among you will have heard of aromatase inhibitors before).

Aromatase is the enzyme responsible for turning free serum testosterone into estrogen. It does this to maintain a balance between the two, which is important for health and longevity. However, it isn’t beneficial when our goal is optimizing performance and virility. Some people have excess aromatase, meaning they rapidly convert testosterone to estrogen.

Compounds in luteolin are able to inhibit the formation of aromatase.

Less aromatase means less estrogen conversion. The end result is higher testosterone levels and lower estrogen levels (which further compounds any rise in testosterone production from the testes).

It is really important to take care of aromatase if you’re trying to increase free serum testosterone. You don’t want all of the extra testosterone being pumped out by your testes to end up converted to estrogen! You can think of aromatase inhibition as plugging the holes in the bucket you are trying to fill with testosterone!

Of course you don’t want to completely shut down your production of aromatase. Estrogen conversion is important for your overall health and happiness. You are only looking to reduce aromatase activity enough to cause a relative build-up of testosterone.

The 30mg of Luteolin in Performance Lab T-Booster is more than you need to see a real reduction in aromatase formation. The luteolin in this product is sourced from oranges, and it is an extremely high quality extract.

Performance Lab T-Booster luteolin content

Some of you may notice that Performance Lab T-Booster contains no vitamins or minerals, which is something we usually expect from a testosterone booster. However, this stack is designed for use alongside Performance Lab Multivitamin For Men. More on this later.
If you want to learn more, the Performance Lab website provides a lot of detail about all of the ingredients in T-Booster: https://www.performancelab.com/supplements/t-booster/

What About Ashwagandha?

The final ingredient we’re going to talk about – and the final one in the formula – is Ashwagandha.

Now, ashwagandha isn’t usually used for its testosterone boosting properties. It is most commonly used as part of a sleep stack, or as a natural treatment for anxiety. It is being included in bodybuilding supplements more often nowadays, but it is definitely not common.

So why is it in Performance Lab T-Booster?

Does it have any use in a supplement designed to promote testosterone levels?

YES!

Ashwagandha plant

Ashwagandha is incredibly effective when it comes to reducing stress and anxiety. There is, after all, good reason why it is found in so many sleep and anxiety supplements!

The main way Ashwagandha helps elevate testosterone is through reducing cortisol.

Cortisol is the body’s “stress hormone”. It is released in response to environmental stress, as well as low blood sugar. It is involved in the sleep-wake cycle (a cortisol spike is what wakes you up in the morning), and while it is necessary for various reasons (controling blood pressure, balancing salt and water, reducing inflammation, etc), you don’t want too much of this stuff in your system 24/7.

Cortisol and testosterone do not mix.

In fact, cortisol and testosterone have a directly antagonistic relationship; the injection of cortisol into human subjects will bring about a rapid decline in testosterone levels (ref).

Clinical studies have found that Ashwagandha supplementation significantly decreases serum cortisol levels (ref). More generally, ashwagandha extract supplementation has been repeatedly shown to improve subjects’ resistance to chronic stress and anxiety, even in people with anxiety disorders (ref). When measured, there is almost always a fall in serum cortisol in subjects using ashwagandha extract supplements.

It’s no surprise then that some studies have found ashwagandha supplementation to significantly increase testosterone levels.

In this study, for example, researchers gave…It’s worth quoting the paper in full here:

“Serum testosterone increased significantly by 17% (from 4.45 ± 1.41 ng/mL to 5.22 ± 1.39 ng/mL; P < 0.01) and LH by 34% (from 3.97 ± 1.21 mIU/mL to 5.31 ± 1.33 mIU/mL; P < 0.02), following treatment with Ashwagandha root extract, as compared to the baseline (Day 0) values of these parameters.” (Published 2013 in Evidence Based Complimentary & Alternative Medicine).

A 17% rise in testosterone is nothing to sniff at. In fact, most guys would kill for an extra 17% rise in testosterone levels.

Couple that with chronically lower cortisol levels, better sleep quality, and overall improved mood, and you have a real winner in Ashwagandha.

Performance Lab T-Booster contains 300mg of KSM-66 Ashwaganhda Extract. This is the gold standard ashwagandha product on the market; it is a branded, standardized, highly bio-available ashwaganhda extract providing a high concentration (5%) of withanolides – the key active ingredient in ashwagandha!

Main Weakness – No Vitamins or Minerals?!

So is Performance Lab T-Booster perfect?

Sadly, no. It isn’t.

We can only really see one flaw with this supplement, and it’s quite a serious one – there’s no vitamin and mineral stack.

Most testosterone boosters today contain a large dose of Vitamin D as standard. We regularly mark testosterone boosters down for failing to provide enough Vitamin D3. This supplement contains none.

We also usually expect to see healthy doses of zinc and magnesium as standard. These minerals are vital for the synthesis of testosterone. If you don’t have enough zinc or magnesium, then you aren’t going to be able to make testosterone at an optimal rate for muscle building, a healthy sex life, and so on.

This is really important because most men in the West today are deficient in one or all of these vital nutrients.

We spend all day working in doors, which means we never see the sun. As a result, most people get nowhere near enough Vitamin D for optimal health and performance. This is especially true if you live in northern Europe or North America during winter.

A scarcity of seafood and tree nuts in the modern diet also means most people are deficient in zinc and magnesium too. Sure, you get enough to survive. But you probably don’t get enough to truly thrive.

Rectifying these deficiencies is something all good testosterone boosters need to do.

So why doesn’t T-Booster?

Well, it does. You just need to take it how Performance Lab has always intended; stacked with their Men’s Multivitamin!

Should you stack Performance Lab T-Booster?

Performance Lab products are all designed for extensive stacking. The idea is that you use a core stack – such as the multivitamin or prebiotic – and then build your own custom stack around these core supplements.

T-Booster is actually purposefully formulated to stack with the Men’s Multivitamin product.

If you look at the formula, you’ll see that this supplement is far from a normal multivitamin. It is particularly useful for people looking to boost athletic performance and maximize testosterone production:

T-Booster Mutlivitamin Stack

From this multivitamin we get generous doses of Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Boron, Manganese, Zinc and Selenium. We also get some magnesium to aid with post-workout testosterone recovery. In other words, we get everything we need to maximize testosterone production!

What’s more, these ingredients are guaranteed to be “nature-identical”.

That is, they are as close to the forms you will find in food as you can possibly get in a supplement. This is the BioGenesis™ method which you’ll see plastered all over the Performance Lab website. They synthesize their vitamins and minerals on probiotic plant and yeast cultures in a lab – as far as we know they’re the only supplement manufacturer in the world to do this.

While it isn’t ideal to have to stack two products to really get optimal effects, we don’t think this is a major drawback of Performance Lab T-Booster.

Pricing – How Much Does Performance Lab T-Booster Cost?

By now some of you will just have one question in mind: is Performance Lab T-Booster worth the money?

In our opinion, this supplement is actually seriously under-priced!

The value for money we’re getting here is really something; there isn’t another product on the market which gives us so much bang for our buck.

For each ingredient, Performance Lab have opted for optimum bio-availability, purity, and potency. It will have cost them a lot more to use these ingredients instead of their standard forms; no doubt about that! This usually means higher prices. But T-Booster is actually less per month than most testosterone boosters!

No doubt the small number of ingredients accounts for the lower price. Some supplements on the market today contain 10, even 15 ingredients. Yet many of these ingredients do nothing for testosterone levels. You’re essentially paying for useless plant extracts and fancy names that do nothing for you.

We’d much rather have fewer ingredients – all of which actually do something – and a lower price tag.

So, how much does it cost really?

A single box of Performance Lab T-Booster, providing 60 capsules (or one month’s supply) costs $50.

That means this supplement costs $1.61 per day when you buy a single box as a one-off purchase.

The price drops significantly when you buy more than one box at a time. A 3-box deal (providing 180 capsules) will set you back $135.00.

This brings the per day cost down to ~$1.35 per day.

For an effective, safe, and reliable testosterone booster, that is not a lot at all!

It is significantly less than many of the other testosterone boosters reviewed on this site already, and yet the quality is – in our opinion at least – so much higher.

Of course the price goes up when you purchase the men’s multivitamin alongside T-Booster. Stacking the multivitamin with T-Booster brings the daily price up to about $2.30 per day. However, unlike with other testosterone boosters, the multivitamin will replace many of the other supplements you are currently using (vitamin C caps, a Vitamin D supplement, B-vitamin complexes, etc). So you really need to do the maths yourself and see if it’s worth it!

In our opinion, this is an absolute bargain for significantly more testosterone and all the gains that come with it! Most testosterone boosters cost the same as both of these two supplements combined, and they are full of useless garbage.

T-Booster alone comes in at just over $1.30 per day, which is astounding for such a potent, powerful, high quality testosterone booster.

Check the website to see what the price is in your currency: https://www.performancelab.com/supplements/t-booster/

Money Back Guarantee

One thing we also need to mention is the money back guarantee.

The Performance Lab website makes it clear that they have great faith in their products. Their money back guarantee reads as follows: “We are confident that you will be satisfied with your purchase of Performance Lab® and we insist the risk is on us. Try one bottle of any single Performance Lab® product for a full 30-days; and, if you do not see results simply return the used bottle and any unused bottles within 60-days of your order being delivered, and we will gladly refund your money (minus any shipping costs).”

We recommend reading this page properly before ordering.

T-Booster Side Effects – Is It Safe?

Safety is our primary concern when judging testosterone boosters. You really need to be careful when shopping for these products; some really popular testosterone boosters contain exogenous human sex hormones. Seriously.

Others contain plenty of ingredients known to cause side effects, either in the short term or the long term.

A far larger number contain ingredients that have not been studied long-term. To put that another way, they use substances for which the long-term health risks are completely unknown.

Performance Lab T-Booster is none of these things.

It looks like a safe, side effect-free supplement to us.

It uses standardized, premium-quality ingredients of the highest caliber. Each ingredient has been thoroughly tested in clinical conditions and has been found to be perfectly safe for regular human consumption. The doses are all appropriate and well within the range tested in human studies.

There isn’t even the obligatory mention of digestive discomfort in the literature on these ingredients – when side effects do occur, they tend to be mild and the result of an unusual allergy or interaction.

Performance Lab even go as far as to use vegan, prebiotic capsules to deliver the T-Booster formula, ensuring that you don’t experience any digestive discomfort from the capsules themselves.

It is free from GMOs, gluten, soy, preservatives, and colorants.

Basically, it’s pure plant material. More than that; it’s safe, tested, pure plant material at sensible doses.

Is T-Booster safe?

There are, of course, some things you need to consider.

Performance Lab T-Booster may not be safe if you have any pre-existing conditions which make any of the ingredients unsuitable.

It might not be safe if you are taking medications or any supplements that contain large doses of unusual herbal extracts (especially if it contains the same ingredients found in T-Booster but in larger doses).

You might have an allergy to one or more of the ingredients in T-Booster. This is unlikely, but it is something that some of you may need to consider.

However, if none of this applies to you, and you are using T-Booster as directed, side effects are not going to be a major concern. Nor is long-term safety.

If you do have any concerns, it’s always worth getting in touch with the manufacturer, which you can do here.

WARNING

  2. This is not medical advice – not in any shape or form
  3. You must talk to a doctor and do plenty of your own research before buying

Do your own research and you ABSOLUTELY MUST talk to your regular family doctor before you use any testosterone boosters.

T-Booster Review Summary – Does It Work?

To put it simply – yes, T-Booster really works.

It does more than work; this is easily one of the best natural testosterone boosters we’ve ever seen.

It is an incredibly straightforward, simple formula, yet it packs a serious punch. Every box is ticked, every base covered. In a stack of just four ingredients, it is pretty amazing to get an aromatase inhibitor, two top quality testosterone production boosters, and a substance to control cortisol. Some stacks do less with 12 ingredients, and they cost a lot more.

When stacked with the Performance Lab Men’s Multivitamin, results are inevitable.

Are there more complete testosterone boosters out there? Yes there are.

But we don’t know of a supplement which gives you better value for money, more flexibility for stacking, and fewer side effect worries than Performance Lab T-Booster.

Whether you’re looking to juice up your training in the gym, or fire up your performance in the bedroom, T-Booster can help. A top quality product from a refreshingly honest brand.

FAQs

How Do I Take Performance Lab T-Booster?

It’s always best to split up your daily dose into multiple smaller servings if you can. That way, you benefit from the ingredients 24/7, and not just for the 3-4 hours after you take them. T-Booster’s daily dose is split into 2 capsules. Users are advised to start with 2 capsules per day, with the first one taken in the morning after breakfast and the second in the evening with another meal or after a workout. You can slowly graduate to 4 capsules per day, with 1-2 capsules taken with breakfast and another 1-2 after your evening meal.

How Long Until T-Booster Starts To Work?

Some of the ingredients in T-Booster start working immediately. Others take a good few weeks before they really start to make a difference. Generally speaking, you wont see a real difference in strength, recovery, or physique until you’ve been using T-Booster consistently for 4-8 weeks (in conjunction with training of course). In terms of feeling more energetic and virility, you might start to feel a difference in as little as 28 days (the length of time usually measured in clinical studies).

Is Luteolin Safe If It Inhibits Aromatase?

If you’re a keen bodybuilder, you’ve probably heard that the pros tend to use aromatase inhibitors on top of anabolic steroids. Synthetic aromatase inhibitors are extremely effective, but they are also extremely dangerous. They can permanently damage your body’s hormone production capacity. In the short term, they cause joint pain, blood lipid problems, and significantly raise the likelihood of developing heart disease. Natural aromatase inhibitors, like luteolin, are less effective, but they don’t have anywhere near the same health risks!

Luteolin has never been found to have adverse health effects, or even any short-term side effects. It is generally safe for daily, long-term use (so long as the quality and dosage are right).
